Our Story

Trellis began with a conversation between a brother and sister. We are both engineers with families of our own. As we balanced work and raising our children, we began to notice that our parents were starting to need more help. We wanted to be there for them. We just weren't sure where to begin.

As we talked about the different ways we could help, we quickly felt overwhelmed. Our parents had spent decades building full, complex lives. Understanding how all the pieces fit together, and where our help would be useful, was a much bigger task than we had expected. Realizing that this wasn't a problem that would be solved, but rather an evolution of the relationships we have with our parents an ever bigger task.

We went looking for resources online. When we were learning about parenting or personal finance, we had found places that helped us understand unfamiliar questions and figure out what to do next. We hoped to find something similar for supporting our aging parents. Instead, we struggled to find the kind of practical, organized resource we needed.

So we turned to the engineering tools we use in our professional lives. We began breaking big questions into smaller ones, organizing the information we gathered, and coordinating the work between us. Our parents' preferences and choices remained central as we worked out how to help.

Trellis Aging is the next step in that journey: building the online resource we were looking for. We are sharing what we learn to help other families make sense of the questions ahead, find useful information, and take manageable steps alongside the people they love.
